Le Château La Croix Taillefer, un vignoble d'exception à Pomerol

Welcome to the Family-Run Organic Winery in Pomerol, Château La Croix Taillefer

Our vineyard and winery, Château La Croix Taillefer, are located in the Pomerol village on the right bank of the Bordeaux region, next to Saint-Émilion. This area boasts a rare soil rich in iron, known as crasse de fer, which made the village's name very famous.

We are dedicated to producing organic wines using biodynamic methods. We respect tradition and terroir, and meticulously manage every step from soil preparation to wine making process. We aim to share our knowledge gained from years of experience in Pomerol and our challenges with the ever-changing climate, hoping you will enjoy our wines.

Our château is family-run. Except during the busy periods in the vineyard, it is usually just the two of us, husband and wife, managing the château. Please feel free to contact us or drop by. When you visit the château, we are happy to answer any questions you have about our wines, no matter how small, so please come and visit us without any hesitation.

Une propriété viticole familiale

A family-owned vineyard

The vineyard of Château La Croix Taillefer is one of the oldest in the Bordeaux region, dating back to 1090.
Situated on the plateau in Pomerol, Romain Rivière, who took over the helm of the winery in 2000, has been practicing organic farming since 2003. The name "Château" refers to the village of Pomerol being along the route of the ≪Santiago de Compostela pilgrimage (registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1993)≫, and "Taillefer" (Taille=cut, fer=iron) is named after the presence of iron in the soil.

We work using traditional methods, from hand-harvesting to winemaking, combining years of acululated experience with a newfound spirit of exploration in sustainable grape cultivation and winemaking.
